// WHO'S BEHIND THE GIST
About GAMEGIST
A player-run gaming outlet with one rule: finish the game, then talk about it. No hype cycles, no paid scores, no filler.
GAMEGIST started as a group chat where a handful of players kept sending each other the same question: is this one actually worth it? The answers were more useful than anything we were reading online — honest, spoiler-aware, and written by people who'd rolled credits.
So we made it a site. We cover console, PC, mobile and esports, and we treat every reader like a friend asking for the gist, not a metric to optimize. If a game is brilliant, we'll say so. If it's a broken mess in a pretty shell, we'll say that too.
What we believe
Play it, then say it. No score goes up until we've seen the credits.
Readers over algorithms. We write the gist you'd want, not the headline that ranks.
Say the quiet part. Conflicts, caveats and rough launches get named out loud.
The team
The Curator
Has finished more RPGs than is medically advisable. Refuses to score a game unrolled credits.
Patch Notes
Reads changelogs for fun. Your source for whether that nerf actually matters.
Speedrun
Times everything, trusts nothing, and can clear the tutorial in 40 seconds flat.
FAQ
Do studios pay you for reviews?
No. We buy or request review copies, and a review copy never changes the score. If anything about a game's access could look like a conflict, we say so in the piece.
How do you pick review scores?
We finish the main content first, then score out of 100 against the genre — not against a marketing checklist. Every number ships with a plain-English verdict.
Is GAMEGIST a real company?
This is a demo site built to show off a design. The games, reviews and people on it are fictional — any resemblance to real titles is coincidental.
Can I pitch a guide or gist?
Yes — players write our best stuff. Use the contact form below and tell us what you've cleared.
